Antimutagenic effects of copaiba oils (Copaifera langsdorffii Desf.) and flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) against the clastogen – cyclophosphamide, in Wistar rat

Copaiba oil extracted from the trunk of Copaifera langsdorffii Desf. and flaxseed seeds Linum usitatissimum L., are widely used for prevention treatment many diseases, including cancer. The aim this study was to assess antimutagenic effect these oils against damage-inducing agent cyclophosphamide, in Rattus norvegicus treated vivo, by gavage, using cytotoxicity chromosomal alteration test. animals were submitted a single dose copaiba simultaneous treatment, pre-treatment pos-treatment 24 hours. None treatments presented cytotoxic effect. Treatments both cyclophosphamide have significantly reduced damage caused clastogen. In groups with reduction percentage 77% 83% 75% pos-treatment, whereas those 94% 96% pos-treatment.
